First stone to try my hand at and I have no idea what it is. Shown here dry and unpolished anyone have an idea? The rust colored spots are actually a lot redder than shown, with a blueish tinge around the edges.

Some sort of plume agate I would presume, looks like some really fine material!

Hmmm... ? How about giving us a few hints to go on, like any background info you may have on it. It really does look like an agate of some sort, the question is what type, there' so many varieties?

I have no clue as to where this piece came from, it was bought at a little shop and given to me by my daughter. It shows pinkish white (milky) through it when viewed in strong light. Some things I have learned from other threads here though is that I probably should start on something smaller and more rounded, this one is quite large, about two inches square and 3/8 inch thick and has sharp edges. I have no tumbler, only a dremel.
