Pardon the silly musical references for those of you that didn't get them. Rocker at heart in more ways than one ;D Anyways on to the real question: I found a single piece, approximately 15 pounds worth (oh, 12" x 6" x 4") and I've never seen anything like it before. I've physically shown it to several folks that consider to be quite knowledgeable and so far there is one consensus thought that I will withhold (for now) to avoid creating any bias. Pictures are of a slab approximately 1/4" thick. It is very hard (at least 6, possibly 7). It is opaque, even through thin edges. On the large uncut stone the color is so deeply purple/blue to be almost black. When I first spotted it in the pile-o-rocks I thought obsidian - until I picked it up. Not glassy at all. The skin seems to be water worn. The photo'd slab is being worked by my friend nephrite(Tony) into something to help show what it looks like finished. But the photos do seem to be a decent representation of it. Has anybody seen anything like this before? (couple pics here, more at my flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/12644536@N00/)

Well, I'll give the board a few days before saying what other folks tell me they think it is.

Hard to tell from the pic, but I got the musical reference. Hey Tony, are you done yet?

Ok, just a bump cause I'm hoping some new eyes will take a look and offer an opinion.
