Ended up with some 16 gauge wire. Will it work for wire wrapping? Anything else? Copper. Thanks, retrorocker.

That's definitely pretty thick for wrapping but it could be used for making clasps.

16ga wire, which can be either .048-.051, never order by guage, can be pulled down to .032 fairly easily. You can use either beeswax, or oil of wintergreen and either use a commercial drawplate, or make your own. Drawing down is fairly easy, and produces accurate wire dimensions. by the by. Drawplated do not come by guage. Guage is a sales ploy for undersized wire, or electrical wire.

Docone31, I have seen you make refrence to "Drawing Down" wire, could you explain this process a little? I'm with you, I think if there is a rite way and a wrong way to order something then the rite way should be tought from the begining. Especially if the wrong way is only there as a code for "SUCKER".

Hey Doc - I was reading that 'drawing down' makes the wire harder. Is that true or does it really make a difference? I'm just beginning to think about wrapping and trying to learn as much as I can before ruining several feet of wire! Thanks, Dan
