Okay, my three ammy pendants. Each of these are with a different wire, and you can really tell the difference between the different types! First - 24 ga. craft wire: Second - 22 ga. sterling silver round: And Finally, this last one goes to my Mom for Mother's Day. She's admired this ammy since I first dug into the rough, so it's only fitting - 24 ga. sterling silver round: Until I use the rest of this wire, I'm planning on binding in the 24 ga. to bring the wrap closer to the stone. Then I'll bridge out to square and half-round wire to play with!

Hey great job, your mother is going to love that one. I've got some ammy that's similar, I should dig mine out and wrap some. Did you notice much difference between the 22 and 24 g sterling?

I had played with the 24 g. craft wire before trying the 22 g. silver wire. The difference between those two was amazing. You could UNDO mistakes with the silver, but not really with the craft wire.
However, I wasn't really happy with the thickness of the wire on that particular stone. It seemed almost too sturdy to me when I was working with it.
Working with the 24 g. was more like the craft wire, but it was almost too soft - bent out of shape very easily. I ran the wire through my plastic jaw pliers quite a few times to harden it a bit. At least, I like to think it hardened it a bit.
I think my ideal would be to start with 24 g. half-hard wire. I like the look of the more delicate wire, but it was just too soft for me to maintain a decent shape on the stone.

I found a big difference between the sterling and gold-filled too and yes, it was wayyyyyyy different than the craft wire. When you get to the 24 g half hard, let me know what you think of it.

Ah amethyst - my favorite purple rock! - My favorite stone #1, #2, & #3 - favorite wrap - well I like them all - what can I say, I'm pretty indecisive!
Great job - I'm assuming the wire is dead soft - I don't see swear text so it must be as Cher said let us know what you think of the half hard

Nice Job Akansan!
Did you know that you are wrapping chevron amys? As a hobby, I like to know about the metaphysical aspects of the stones. Chevrons are actually worth more than reg amys & they are really very beneficial as a healing stone...now if only I could find my books that tell us why!
