This is a cab I did recently with Kim's African lace - this stuff is amazing - it has some vugs that work nicely in another cab I did - this one is pretty vug-free. A co-worker is retiring and she likes to look at the stones I bring in sometimes and specially the cabs I make - she also liked a wrap I made for myself - this is my good-bye gift to her so she can remember me The wire is half-hard (why do I keep trying to work with this stuff - it's hard to hold & specially to shape around the stone and curl & wrap - basically I find it incredibly hard to work with - but I still have a whole bunch that I must use up 24 gauge (sorry doc ) I purchased it in "mm" but I don,t recall the size I like it but the curls are a bit "stiff" Same pic - different lighting so you can see through the stone any comments or rotten apples welcome! I know the holding wires in front are a bit rough but I only remembered that I needed to hold the stone once all was tied & curled & had to use my hands to try to shape it. I would have loved to twist the wire as well, but it was hard enough to work with as is... Thanks for looking

Well if you ask me, I think it looks great, both the cab and the wrap. She's going to love it dearly Tweetie. Excellent job.

Cool, Tweet. I use half-hard wire exclusively. I find it must be shaped with tools. You cannot use your fingers to bend the wire, except to curve it gently. I haven't done much wrapping lately...or tumbling or cutting for that matter... been too busy collecting. Susan

I think you did a great job on both, the cab is very nice and shiny. I only use 1/2 hard which was very frustrating at 1st but each time seems to get easier.

Wonderful wraps and stones! As for hard wire.... it will get easier as your fingers get stronger... yep they will get stronger and you will have no problem working it.

Really nice Tweet! I'm with ya on the half hard wire-hate the stuff! For some reason I'm having trouble finding DS in 21 or 22G

Beautiful, job. Not too much fancy work that would take away from the beauty of the stone.

I lke it Tweet, and the sterling was a nice choice for the pale blue of the lace. Your friend is going to love it. Half hard is difficult, I'd use nothing less for the binding wraps though.

Very cool wrapping job. It compliments the stone very well. The wire type discussion got me thinking. What kind of tools do you need to try wirewrapping and whare's a good place to start? Looks like fun and something to do with cabs. Steve
