Hello everyone. I finally found a store here in town that sells the wire for wrapping. ;D Not only did I find a store for wire, but the fella that owns the store also does a little lapidary work, so I was able to talk face to face with someone else who likes rocks! Anyway, I bought some gold filled wire and some gold practice wire. I didn't really have anything to practice on until I remembered the Heart Worms pendant I won from here. So, I gave it a shot and I know I need alot of practice. But I wanted to share it with you guys because I'm so excited to try it!! I hope to wrap the opal I'm going to make for my Mom's birthday. I also bought the jewlery pliers, flat and round, so I would have the correct tools. I tried to follow the instructions someone posted here from another website. For this being my first one, how does it look? I think it looks good, but I also think I can do better. Please let me know what you think. Picture is alittle blury, sorry. This one is better. This one has a light from the bottom up to show heart better. This one is alittle closer. Thanks for looking, I really appreciate it!! Tonja ;D

Wow Tonja, I am totally impressed! For a first time, that's really good. I think you're going to be really good at wrapping stones.

Tonja, you got a touch! Not bad for a newbie. If you sharpen the tools, you will have less pressure marks on the wire. Sharp tools leave no marks! Also, a Pen, or #2 phillips head screw driver is the correct size for the bail. It will fit 90% of the neclaces without looking like it is a catch up. I like wraps that highlight the stone. That is why wire wraps do what they do. Good start. You could sell that one.

Looks wonderful never would have guessed it was your first wrap. That is a pretty stone with the light coming through it.
docone31 - I'm glad you said that about the size of the bail. I have seen a lot of wraps that have huge bails which I saw no reason for so have been making mine smaller, probably about the size you suggested.

Thanks so much for everyone's kind words. I may take it apart and re-do it with 14K filled gold wire. Then again, I may just keep it as it is. Dacone - you said to sharpen my tools. Do you mean rub the tips with sand paper to make sure there is no marks on them? They are brand new, just bought them today. I did make some marks on the wire, I think I was squeezing them to hard. It is 20guage practice wire, kinda soft. I'm proud of my first one, I'd even wear it out sometime. I knew that heart would be speacial! Thanks again all, Tonja
