showtime cabbed the stefoinite and wanted me to make the wrap look like barbed wire. i 1st tried it in nickel wire and very much liked the barbed wire look but couldn't find a way to make the bail sturdy. so i "thought" on it for ages, tried the thinking chair, the sleeping chair, drawing chair and this is what i came up with but the bail still doesn't suit me. i found this style of making the barbed wire look leather necklace too. and he was worried i might make his look feminine  .    kim |

The bail is fine. Did you want it more massive? You could do a few loops like the razor wire on top of the fence. But it looks fine as is.

daniel it just hasn't come to me yet what i want from the bail. here was the test run in nickel - bail too low on back and at risk of bending backwards  i liked everything but the bail. kim |

I agree Kim, I like everything but the bail too. I think there needs to be more too it than just the one wire so that it appears thicker. I'm wondering if you could .... hmmm need to think on that one. Otherwise I think it's very very cool and a great idea. Very unique!!

Actually I like the bail. It doesn't draw attention from the wire look of the necklace and I think there's a lot going on there...two color metal (which I like) and the leather...I think the simple bail is a good look. Couldn't you just pull the gold wire up on the bailwire?

Kim although I really like it, I'd "barb" up the front a bit more - put more barb wire on the front cab wires

I like the very first one in this thread (first few photos).
I like the way the whole thing looks the same, even the bail.
That's the best design in my humble opinion.

Hmm I think I like the second try best but I'm with tweetie, if you put more barbs on the third to man it up more and loosen the twist I think it would be best. First two examples resemble the twist in barbed wire more ( believe me I string lots of it *LOL*!) Last example is twisted too tight and doesn't look quite like barbed wire. Second resembles it closest across the front with that long loose twist. Like the bail on number one way better too . Has that nice nasty barbed look....mel

Kim,
i applaud your hard work and creativity on this one!!
But, i have to say i like the original better. i think it has a look of a tangled mess of barbed wire that i find appealing, even a little more mess would not take away from the stone.
