Hi all. I got an email from the vendor that bought some of my cabs at the craft fair last weekend telling me she really loved the Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper cab I sold her. I asked her to send me a photo of the finished necklace and in her reply she said she wanted to practice before she wrapped that one. So here is her practice piece, the Regency Plume cab she bought from me. I don't know about you, but I don't think she needs any more practice, this necklace is fantastic. "I strung it on a short length of Swarovski simulated pearls, sterling rondelles, and citrine, and attached that to some sterling chain." Here is her web site if you would like to check out more of her work. mcfarlanddesigns.com/I'm hoping she will sign up here and post more of her work, I really like it alot.

GORGEOUS. I've been trying some Oken style tutorials from online and it's so great to see what someone really good can do with the technique. Of course the cab makes the wrap! Beautiful job, stoner.

I've been checking out Eni Oken's stuff for a long time. Have you seen Isaac's stuff? www.nattywraps.comIsaac made a few appearances on The Board. He's working with sheet metal and a torch these days, but check out his sold pieces. I love his wraps... 8-)Susan

Tamara said this is the first time she's tried this technique, but it looks as though she's done it many times. I saw a lot of her work at the show and it was all really nice. Not only is the wrap on this stone nice, I like the beads she chose also, really compliments the stone.
Kj, I hope you do well on the crafts fairs and when you decide you need more cabs, just send me a PM. I've got a couple hundred cabs for you to choose from and that number keeps growing. I'm going to start a web site so hopefully that will make it easier to show my work.

Hi Ed, and everyone else... This is my first post - I'm Tamara, the one who wrapped this piece. Thanks for all of the positive feedback. I got the tutorial at www.enioken.com - it's actually a ring tutorial but I did a pendant instead, using the same technique. You do have to pay for most of her tutorials - at least all of the 'fancy' stuff, but her prices are really reasonable, and her lessons are so well-written and easy to follow. I highly recommend them! After the initial pictures were taken of this piece, I decided that it wasn't secure enough (you could pop the cab out of the wrap if you tried) so I had to add another row of beads and wire wrapping. I'd be happy to post new pictures but I'm not sure how to do it on this forum - can someone help me? Ed - I finished wrapping the poppy jasper this morning and it turned out very cool. I just antiqued the silver and am going to go figure out what kind of necklace to put it on, then I'll come back and post pictures. Also Ed, I can't wait until your website is up! Please keep us posted. I am working my way through these first cabs pretty fast and I think I'm going to need to get some more from you! Tamara McFarland www.mcfarlanddesigns.com

Hi Tamara, so you finally made the plunge and posted your first post. I can't wait to see the poppy jasper, I know you did it justice. I'll send you a PM with instructions on how to post pics on here. I'm going to take the plunge tonight and get my web site started, so I'll keep you posted as to when it's up and running. Again, welcome, I know you'll have much to offer and look forward to seeing your work.
