My original wrap on this piece was not secure enough so I had to add another row of beads and coiled wire. Here are a few new photos... (I hope this works, this is my first attempt at posting pictures) Tamara

Hi Tamara welcome to the forum! - I love the wrap, but if you didn't want to add that extra row, could you have glued it in there?
I love the basket weave - want to learn myself but not much information is available out there
Welcome again...

Wow Tamara, I think I like the look of it even better now with the extra row. I must say, you have a lot more patience than me. That looks like a lot of work, but the end result is worth it.
Oh, and by the way, your photos are perfect. I hope my instructions weren't too confusing.

I'm with you Kim, think I'll have to take a look at that tutorial too. Tamara, that really is elegant! I like the way you do the beads then chain. Do you buy chain in bulk to do that? Do you also use wire for the bead part? I'm not so good at beading, not like KD anyway, she's got great color sense but I try a little. Something like that would be much easier for me, not having to do too many beads to make a nice necklace.

Hi Cher, I usually buy chain from Rio Grande or www. Artbeads.com. I just buy it by the foot, it is cheaper the more you buy but I don't usually get too terribly much at a time... You could use wire for the bead part if you wanted to do each bead individually but for these two pieces I used .925 sterling beading wire (it's different/stronger than regular wire I guess). I have a feeling I didn't explain that very clearly...sorry... :-) Tamara www.mcfarlanddesigns.com

Tamara, thanks so much for bringing this style to the board! I got the tutorial and did a ring with Artistic Wire an small clear beads - the tutorials are great! I see so many directions we can go. I can't afford much of the silver, but once I get good at it - I'll break down.
The bail wrap is neat too - not so very complex, and I can see how that can be done with the standard wrap styles so many of us have used here... Wow, what a creative person Eni is!
