ok trying something new here. let me know what you think. i got some uruguayan druze and some citrine druze. unfortunately the citrine is too big even for "mr t" to wear. going to see if i can get that corrected but the amethyst i will be able to work with most of it. kim

Kim, hate to bother you for another pic but can you put something for size or measure it and post that?

That turned out great Kim. But I must say, that's taking the easy way out-you've eliminated the cab cutting process.

Kim...don't pay NO attention to that Stoner fella! He just don't know about the druze! LOL!
All joking aside...looks very cool. Beautiful color throughout the crystals. Wrap fits the piece nicely.

Very Nice Kim, ive cut a bunch of these and though they can be faster to cut than normal cabs. They still react differently. Plus in cases, the back may have to be worked allot for a setting to work with the stone. Also Ed good Druzy can be much harder to cut properly than any standard cabochon. Crystals this large can pop out, sometimes theres no agate layer and the whole stone can easily break on you. Plus the cleaning factor after you filled all the little groves with drit from the cutting process can be a pain if you dont have an ultrasonic cleaner.
Allot of the Turkish Druzy i cut is thick 1/2inch layers of lace agate with a fine top layer of Druze. I would cab the back and bevel the sides so the druzy would be the top. twice as much work as a normal cab becasue of its thickness. And those Baby Brazils i posted a long time ago, some had twice as much work as a normal cabochon.

Very nice - I like purple - did you know that? How "hooking" is it left rough like that? would it snag a shirt?

Great wrap! I never would have thought about wrapping or cutting into a cab quartz like that but it is very pretty. I can see where it would be difficult to cut.

tweetie here's a back with no grinding with some grinding here you can see you don't have much to work with or you could dislodge the crystals kim

Wow. now I never would have thought of making that into a necklace - what a neat idea!! Good job - it must be challenging to get the wire wrapped so nicely around the irregular shape. I wouldn't want to mess with grinding the back down either - that definitely looks touchy. You alway share such interesting work!
