Look at it as a learning experience Tonja. You learned not to hit small stones with a mallet and also that things like this can be fixed. If you want to fix the piece that broke out, you can fill the hole with super glue, let it dry overnight, then sand it level with the surface of the cab and re-polish it and no one will ever know. By the way, nice wrap.

Great repair!! The saying about carpenters holds true for wire wrappers to. Being able to cover your mistakes.

I can't believe they told you to tap it! Sheesh! Sometimes I fret even about tightening the wires on a delicate stone. But it's a nice save and a gorgeous rock. I'd be proud to wear it.

Wire will break if you bend it too much - I feel for you on that one I worked up a beautiful piece of goldstone and it flew out of my hands in the polishing stage and it cracked. I'm looking to glue it back too - right now it's taped with Scotch tape! - beautiful piece and nice save!

great save! i, too, wear my own "mistakes" and no one is the wiser. that mallet trick thing might work with stone like agate but boulder opal is so soft......i've had it crack trying to get it off the dop stick.
