I like it! That's a cool idea, wrapping an unfinished but neat lookin' stone. Way to go!

Cina, that's really neat! We have an uncut, untumbled amethest crystal (I think) that my dad collected, and my sister and I would love to wear it somehow. A wrap like that would be perfect! I do want to mention that I was thrilled to see your simple "kid" wraps earlier. Between your pix and the books I finally received, I was able to create something that looked (kinda) decent. My wire was too thin, however, to actually send one out for someone to wear. I'm still at the hobby wire stage, dontcha know. I'm now looking at the half round and square wire; any suggestions? Thanks, again!

I wish I could be more help but this is done in I want to say but not for sure in 18g 14c gold overlay hobby wire I have not got into the expansive stuff because I am still in the hobby wire stage to lol this is only like the 6th or 7th wrap I have done I am hoping one of the experts will post a answer for you to help you out but I must warn you once you get started you may never go back I am sorry I can't help to much but one thing is for sure the More you do the better they get. So practice a lot Cina

cina nice job on the amethyst!
karen i like 22 gauge wire and did you get a "thing-a-ma-bob" or two? definitely get a couple of those. once you think you have the hang of it just take the leap to the better wire. it is actually easier to use and you'll be more careful because it costs more. and come up with a method to keep your tools from scratching your wire whether it's sanding your tools, taping them, or using tool magic.
