The hardest thing I've found is the very first step. I never can get the wires to start out nice and neat and in a line. I've used the tape and all that, but it never starts out as nice and always tries to bunch up. I'm practicing with wire from craft section of wal mart, 20ga, 24 ga and others. Any tips?

Chinook, I too use the clamps but before I got them, I used wire instead of tape to hold my wires together. It also helped to hold the wires in the flat pliers when doing the wraps to bind the wires, thus helping to eleminate the bunching problems.

If it's bunching, your pulling the wrap too tight and it's very easy to do. I use the painter's tape (cheap blue stuff) to keep them flat, the trick is to only wrap a short section at a time. I keep about a quarter inch between the tape and wrap a little at a time. Fold the ends of the tape on to each other so you have little flaps to pull it apart with when you want to move it a little.

Thanks! I'll try to practice some more and try some of these ideas!
