Hello everybody! Thank you for the WTG's and for the advices from my previous thread. I've found some copper wire and a few silver wire. The last one is in my opinion very thin. The thickness of the copper wire seems to me more appropriate for wrapping. So, these are my latest experiments. What are your opinions regarding the wire thickness (and not only)? Hematite + copper Chiastolite + silver Falcon eye? + silver Thanks for looking and for comments, Adrian

Very nice! I like the middle one as the squared wrap seems to match the pattern of the stone. I also like the free feeling of your loops. It always surprises me that we all can take a rock and some wire and yet we all come out with something so completely unique. Keep up the good work!

I like the curves you use over the stones. It shows a good eye for design. Still there is no substitute for getting good wire intended for wrapping. I usually favor less loops at the top, but that is just a personal preference. FYI, I like many of Rockyraccoons's (Kim) wraps the best and she makes very effective use of square wire bundled together with half round wire. I think she uses dead-soft 20 gauge square and half-hard half-round 21 gauge. (check her out in the Wire-wrap section of find her work at I understand the practicality of practicing with cheaper wire. I have not worked on my wrapping in a long time (you are way ahead of me in motivation and persistence), but I bought some 20gauge square brass wire and some 21g round (could not get the half round) copper wire. (These were the approximate sizes and hardness of the silver wire I eventually wanted to work with.) Using tin wire, or copper wire intended for electrical work, or other wire that was made for some other purpose than jewelery making is usually counter productive. Not to mention the whole skin-reaction thing.

I think they're beautiful - the patterns are wonderful - the thing with using good wire is that you may be more likely to sell them since some folks will pay more for sterling silver than for a craft wire + they're more shiny & sparkly
Love your work, keep it up!

You're doing great Adrian. One thing I notice, something you need to take care with are the ends of the wire. When using wire like that, you need to get a very fine fill and round the ends off smooth and keep them tucked in where they won't catch on anything to easily. Look at your first photo, the curl over the stone you can see the pointed end in the middle of the curl. That should be completely flat or pointing inwards toward the stone.

Thank you for the suggestions. They all are welcome and useful. Looking more with more attention to other really wraps, I've noticed they have smaller (and more dense) curls at the top of the stone. Maybe I might reduce them, too, as I don't want to "eclipse" the stone, but to put a frame to it. Am I right? Thank you and, once again, sincerity doesn't bother me; take the hammers and go on . We say here something like "Any kick in the a_s_s is a step forward" . Adrian

;D LOL long as we don't kick too hard eh? You're absolutely right on wanting to frame the stone, for the most part, less is more when it comes to this kind of jewelry.

Your wraps look great. Keep reading this wire wrap thread as there are some truly gifted wrappers on here and I value and love their input and opinions! Sandy

The sharp wire end suggestions are really great advice. Ireally enjoy the shape of the wire on the face of your stones. The tops may be a lil big. You are doing great. When I first started wrapping I made my wife wear them for a couple of days. That way I could get input on what to fix. So get yourself a volunteer! It really does help. That way you can apply form with function and create pieces that will last a long time!

Volunteer? Ha! Thanks for the advice, it's very good, but do you think I have reached the stage for experimenting on humans? Maybe I should start with mice, then rabbits! Where to find humans for these? The Kamikaze era has gone! Adrian

Well, this is in my opinion the first one somewone would volunteer for (but only by night and only on a desert island) . I made it from copper because it's the best wire I have for the moment. I will remake it when I'll have a good wire. This beautiful ammo deserves more than copper. Adrian

You know if you were to use a buffing pad with some polishing compounds you could polish up that copper and it would be shiney. That is a very unique and beautiful wrap. Tami

Holy crap that ammolite is awesome! Just before I read Tami's post I was wondering why the wire was so dark, with a polished copper wire it would be amazing, as it goes with the shel
Keep them coming
