Ocean Jasper. Blue chalcedony from Turkey. I formed both cabs, and then wrapped with 20 gauge sterling. I like the thicker wire! I had been using 22, but I like the 'look' of the 20 better. Thanks for looking! Dee

I like a lot your wrapping style, which allows the stones to be the main actors. The oj seems to be a basket full of fresh vegetables. WTG,

Beautiful job on the stones Dee and the wraps are really cool. What do you use to hold the wires together while you're putting the binding wraps? That's really a unique way to wrap them, does the stone move at all? I'll have to give that a try, maybe it wouldn't be so hard on my fingers.

Thanks all! Yeah, I really am pleased how the blue chalcedony turned out. It took such a shine, and the smokey blue is beautiful. I got it confused with Holly Blue when I was bidding, lol.
Such a funny name! But y'all are right, it does kind of look like an Easter basket.
Cher, I use masking tape, just like other styles of wrapping. The stone does move a little, but it's pretty secure in there. Actually, the round stones can spin, which is fine with me, and something to play with when you get restless. :-)
Blarneystone, I'm always getting inspired by peoples' work here, so glad I can give you some ideas too!

W-O-W, Dee! I love your 'easter basket' wrap. Can you describe, or better yet, demonstrate thru progressive photos how to wrap a cab using your easter basket technique? I'd love to try it.
In anticipation, Joy

Yes.. those are really beautiful!!! I love the ocean jasper as well.. one of my favorites. Your wraps as well are very unique. Are you using just one piece of wire again? Cool. You formed those cabs as well yourself? How big are they? Wow! Tammy

Alas, I can't really take credit for the uniqueness, rockinmom! I bought a tute from a wire artist from another forum I frequent named Remy. She calls it the "Treasure Coil basket wrap' or something like that. And joy, she has all the pictures in progressive order and clear instructions! And a VERY reasonable cost! It's here: www.studioheath.com/tutorials.phpI learned the other way of wrapping first, but when it comes to wearing jewelry, I prefer this style for myself. Yes, I form the cabs too! I actually did cabbing for a while before I decided I should learn how to do something with them! I just love rock so much, ever since I was small, it was years before I took up wire working. :-) I hope it's the combination of wrapping and my cabs that makes my work 'unique'. This site is really such an inspiration, seeing everyone's work. What a great place to be! Dee
