That's a nice hunk there. I think I would cab it and wrap it. It sure has some nice color in it. What-ever you do with it, It will be gorgeous!! Show pics when you figure it out. Tonja

Well.. I can't cab it because I don't have any cabbing equipment! But, it sure is pretty and might look great with jeans.. lol

Surface-wise I don't think there's a problem, but width-wise I'd hesitate. I've not done anything that wide myself. I've done pieces that large, though!

I agree the width would make it tricky. Try talking to some of our cabbers maybe one could help you out.

How about tumbling it to get the edges rounded?

At this size, it's perfect for a key-holder. If you want to wear it at the neck, I think you better cab it. I wrapped some big stones (not so big as this one), gave them to my wyfe to try them and I had complains it feels heavy.

It's not that it's too big, but it would be a bit awkward to wrap. I'd ask one of the cabbers here to see what they could do with it, something that would bring out the colors like in the first photo.

some people... (like my mom) say big is the thing. We keep some of our pieces large to attract those types of people. We do everything in various sizes. I think the weight of the stone might be a problem for some, but maybe not for others. There is always a way to wrap anything!! You just have to have the right customer that would appreciate it.

Yep. you can wrap just about anything...I'd hesitate with something already heavy, cause when you add wire it will be even heavier. All the techniques that I'm thinking of would use a lot of wire. hmmmmm....GOOD LUCK! lol....

Thanks you guys. I'm just going to sit on it for a bit. I think I will ask some of the cabbers what they think could be done with it. If I made it into a wrap now it would be very heavy.. I like the size but wish it was half as thick. I'll post a picture whenever it happens. Tammy

You probably want to polish both sides then a groove could be cut on center around the outside edge. A single wire could then be placed in the groove and then topped off with a fancy little whoop- de - do . There is a lady in our area that does that , she has someone cut the grooves for her with a diamond saw with a .050 width blade or slightly thicker.

Because stones come out looking so different after tumbling or cabbing I would do one or the other. As for the size there are many possiblities. The only problem I can see with it, is that it might be too heavy to wear. Tami

That looks like the Madagascar labradorite. It is a bit chippy for a tumbler. I have cabbed some and it came out nice. A large freeform would be great.

I still haven't decided what to do yet. If anything Stones are patient! lol I think it just needs to be sliced in half because I love the chunky big look of it.. it's just a little thick and too heavy to wear right now.
