New earring wraps that were a true team effort. Robert cut some slabs out of his bigger rocks, I cut the shapes with the trim saw & made my first cabs with the grind wheel. That was (very!!) fun! Then he took them back to tumble, after which I wrapped them. You guys are right... the smaller the stone, the bigger the pain! The first is labrodite and the second is silver crazy lace.

Yep...small is harder...you might want to try half-hard wire in 22 gauge ( 21 could pass also)...try and take quilting tape and go around your stone...mark on the tape where you want to bind the wires. This type of tape is thin and much like masking tape...easy to use. Anywho, it will put those bindings in just the right place. Also, half-hard wire will give crisper bends and for the style you are implementing not a problem to work with.
Ya'll did good for sure...earrings are a real pain. ack!!! I adore those stones!!!!!!
If ya need any help at all with anything...just email me. No problemo!

Nice work! I like them both. Cool that you cabbed them yourself. Just be careful. It can be VERY adicting. Pretty soon Robert will have to wait for the cabbing machine.
Here's another tape suggestion (I love using tape). Get some drafter's tape. It's the same thing as masking tape but smaller and comes in a tape dispenser so it's easy to use. Being that it's 5/8 in wide, you take an exacto knife, remove it from it's dispenser, and VERY CAREFULLY cut two parallel lines all the way around as deep as you can safely. You cut them so you have three 1/4"-ish lines of tape. Then you put it back in the dispenser and use one strip at a time. It's nice and thin and not too sticky. I hope that makes sense. Steve

Hey Steve! I'm a tape nut too! The quilters tape is already 1/4" wide (or less)...you can also get it with lines on it like a ruler...I use the blank though. For holding wires, I use auto paint tape...it doesn't goo like some other tapes do. ack! Oh well, the tumbling gets it all off. Anywho, I think tape is one of my most useful tools.

Thanks, all! I've never used tape before. Sounds like it'll help a lot! Sorry, honey, I gotta go buying again! ;D
