Time to earn some $$ for gas for my visit to the cities and Iowa, the way things are going I'll have to sell my car when I get there. Anyway, here's a bit of red Mexican Lace I did today. I cut this and shaped it on the workforce last summer then ran it through the tumbler. I have to admit, I'm very upset with myself though, I wasn't paying attention and ended up with the side I wanted as the front in the back so I'll show both of them. FrontBackI'm seriously thinking I need to change where the wings are connected to the back so I can have my front. I like that white band of lace running down the front. Thanks for looking!! Cher

I think it looks great either way, but I see what you mean. Can you just open up the wrap and slip the stone out and flip it over? Shows ya how much I know about wrapping!

I hate when that happens.. hehe. The wrap is very cool.. i like the 2 wire curve at the top of the cab... how did you do that?
I think Ed has a good idea.. the cab looks fairly symetrical.. it might work.

Glad you both see what I'm talking about but no way Ed, not even going to mess with trying to take it out and turn it around. I'll just move the wing connections to the back. I need to take straight pics anyway, both of those have a definite lean to them.

Cher I feel for you, but it looks great either way! I always think those darn wraps are flimsy & loose, UNTIL you try to shift the position of the stone a bit and you realize that it,s like cemented there!
If you hadn't mentioned it, the back could be the front - DO A POLL!!!!

What back? this one has two fronts. I like a lot the wire lace, looks like the stone's pattern.

I changed the wing attachments to the back so I can show what I like as front best. Of course I messed the wire a bit, too bad there wasn't enough to cut new ends but there isn't. Maybe I'll learn to pay better attention next time.
Dan, it's mostly a case of smoothing it over with your thumb, then hold it in place while you work the curve up to the top. Works great for securing the top of a stone.
Thank you for all the compliments, it has felt good to get a few done after such a long time.

Cher...when fastening wires in the back, you could have just opened the wires sideways...like for a jumpring...and fastened the wires in the back by slipping them under the main wire...then realigning the holding curl. You don't HAVE to have wires lock by going OVER the main wire that you are locking to. I will do that if the wire is in front...but it is not necessary if it is in back...as long as it is not scratchy...you are just fine. BTW...if you have a dremel, scratches can be buffed out ....tumbling is preferable to moi...but dremels have their place in jewelry making. Course, I think mine has cobwebs now...along with other great tools I just HAD to have. Very helpful at times...and I know when I start using silver clay and such, that dremel will come back into play. yep...I'm sure it will! lol NO worries...it is a lovely design gal.

Nancy I do have a dremel that came in a big kit with a ton of other things. Is there a certain bit you use for buffing them out?
Have you ever tried that clay? I wish it wasn't so expensive, it looks like so much fun.

I agree that both front and back are beautiful... and I have found that when people look at our wraps they have a tendency to put them on backwards anyway. haha. I definitly think it's a two sider.
