Hello everyone. A few days ago my mother in law saw the "basket wrap" I've done before. You can watch it here: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=wwp&action=display&thread=1181937513She asked me to wrap one for her, and today I did it. It's not the same style, but I still hope she'll enjoy it. My daughter did. This is the front: and the back: Thanks for looking, and please express your honest opinions, as I had a good relationship with my mother in law and I don't want to ruin it because of an ugly wrapping . I like it Adrian and I think she'll be happy to recieve it!! ...the only thing I would like to suggest is that you get some smaller guage wire to do the bindings with. Dan

Looks good. I agree with Dan smaller binding wire. Also make sure those prongs are well rounded. Don't want any snags. Great Job again I think she will love it.

Adrian, am I wrong or did you completely hammer the wire you used for the bindings? I like the design alot but not to crazy about the hammered binding. I like it on the wire ends though. Do you have half round for your bindings?

I agree with the above - neat design, change wire for wraps, file ends on prongs before hammering...neat effect of hammered prongs! Nice even wraps on the bail - that's where I always get gaps!!

Thank you all for the advices. I would like to be able to use a propper wire for bindings, but the only silver wire I have is brought to me by someone from Italy. No silver wire here, not speaking about round, half round, square, DS, HH, and so on. So I hammer my binding wire. I agree with you I've hammered it a little too hard and it became too flat.
Ihave read here some of you put the wrap in the tumbler after doing it. Rotary or vibe? Alone or with other stones? With what sort of grit or polish?
Thank you,
Adrian

I improved it by fileing the ends of the prongs, and gave it to her. She really enjoyed it.
Thanks again for looking and advices.

I dont know.. I kind of think the flat wire binding was kind of neat and matched the hammered ends that grip the stone. I like it. Very simple. And I like the way the accent wire follows the line of color change in the stone. Nice work.
