Hello everyone. Yesterday I had an idea and today I did two wraps in a new style (at least for me). The only problem is that every stone must be drilled in 3 places. Is drilling forbidden in the classical wrapping techniques? The first one is a very nice naturally shaped "drop" of green jasper. Front: and back: The second one is a little piece of pet wood. Front: back: I could have done them with only the two holes in the upper part, but the vertical wire that enters the third hole really adds a lot of stability. Maybe you wrapping masters could develop and improve this idea. Thanks for looking. Adrian

I like those, but how far up the rock's "wazoo" did you have to drill? I can,t see the exit hole - which is good I suppose -
If you omit the bottom hole does it swing too much? is that why the third hole?

The holes are 3 to 5 mm deep, they are "blind" holes. Yes, without the third hole they were too much swinging. What's a "wazoo"?

hey, we are learning all sorts of new languages here lately, eh, mate? Wazoo may refer to: Anus, vulgar slang The Grand Wazoo, an album by Frank Zappa WaZOO, Warp Zillion Opus-to-Opus. The session layer protocol for Fidonet Wazoo, Alabama, the fictitional town where the comedy My Cousin Vinny is set. Wazoo, name of a web design agency (www.wazoo.co.uk) based in Northern Scotland. lmao on the wazoo...
I think the wraps are a great idea. I need to learn to drill holes... and by no means is hole drilling a no no to wrapping. I would think that without the bottom hole then the wires in the top holes could pull out, correct. The bottom hole adds necessary stability to lock the top holes into place. It does not go completely through the stone, is what Im assuming. Very neat idea, and they look great.

could you go all the way through with the holes instead? and wrap the bail the same way? might be more stable - I really like them
yeah wazoo (in the way I had intented to mean was - up the backside)

But there's no reason to make the holes deeper than 5 mm, that's more than enough for stability. I drilled these holes using a very fine diamond coated drill into a regular portable drilling machine. I used water all the time. Thanks for the English lessons Adrian

Very nice Adrian.. I like this idea as well.. I remember someone else posting drilled cabs with wire bails but these are still very unique. Keep on making 'em. Dan
