That is a very good tutorial, and better than I could ever have explained! It is the same method I use to make my rings. The only other thing I do is to put a short down-turn bend (a Z bend) on both sides of the beads before I start around the dowel for finger hole - it kind of sets the beads higher and makes the wrap around the top a little easier for me.

oh yes...there are some other little things you can do too! I will add these at some date and time. I have a lot of tuts to make. ack! Finding the time seems to be my problem as well as everyone elses. lol... Good suggestion!

Appreciate the tutorial. I actually think I could try this now that I've seen how it's done. Up to this point--all things wired have "scared" me. :-) My arthritic fingers don't work like they used to but I really want to learn how to wrap the cabs my husband is working on. Maybe if I start with some beads I'll gain a sense of how wire feels in my hands.
Thanks Nancy. Very generous of you and your time to give us this.

Thanks for the link! I think I'm going to give it a try, though I don't have a ring mandrel. I may even incorporate it into something else.............

Thanks Dan! Have fun... Takila...you can use wooden dowels that you can get from a lumber yard or hardware store. You will want to cut them down to about 8 inch pieces.

Wow, Nancy, thanks for the tut. I'm going to attempt a ring for my younger son's GF; she wears funky jewelry from those 25 cent machines in store lobbies, so I figure she might wear my first pitiful attempts, LOL. I also browsed around your website. Amazing! How the heck do you find time for all that?

Hey Mitzi...your in Corpus! That isn't very far from me. Thanks Karen...I'll see if I can work up a simple cab tut too. uh...time for the jewelry or making the site? lol...either way, I am a spoiled wife and ALL I have to do is cook, clean, wash clothes, mow (yard and pasture), feed animals and goof off making jewelry and such. ;D Hey, with all the rain we've been having, I haven't had to water! That alone gives me another hour a day...yipppeeeee

Spoiled wife, Hardly! You are doing exactly what you should be doing with talent and creativity like you have. I received the pendant in the mail on Friday and its even more beautiful than it was in those pictures you posted. I just love it, thanks again!

Great tutorial! If I can finish cleaning my house today maybe I can try a hand at it. But, then since I'm here instead of doing what I should be doing maybe it'll be next week! :/ I don't have a dowel on hand, could I use something else? Thanks for posting it. Tammy

I made one of these using copper wire and some plastic beads my daughter got for her birthday. She loved it.
As for the mandrel, the first one i made using the handle of a maraca clenched between my knees. The second one I made using the handle of a wooden spoon. It was a little less successful than the maraca one -- go figure.
Thanks for the tutorial. I plan to make some more (two other daughters).
