Had a friend over last night and after making fun of my hobby ( ), she proceeded to tell me she actually wanted one of my necklaces! And she proceeded to hand me the cab she had picked out while digging through my pendants. So, here it is.

So, it's not "here it is" but "there it goes"! Very pretty indeed. Adrian

Can I be your friend, too? I won't make fun of your hobby and I'll let you pick out the cab as long as when you are done, the wrapped pendant is as gorgeous as this one!!!

Hey.. that's a nice one Ronda! I really like the single strand that hugs the face of the cab. Neat. Dan

Very nice! And for some reason, I love pink and all the shades of pink....... mauve, wine, rose, etc. When you first mention to someone that has no clue about rocks and lapidary, most of them do chuckle or make a face, until they realize what beautiful things come from them!

I forgot to mention that my boss thinks my hobby is strange as well but has asked me to make a wrapped cross for his mom. Go figure... Dan

What kills me about this friend is this is the first instance she had done anything other than tease me about my rock hobby. She's seen many of my other necklaces, never commented on any of them. Then she came over to my house for the express purpose (or so it now appears) to purchase a custom wrap. I thought it was wierd the way she showed up, but then about 45 minutes into the visit she asks me straight out how much I'd charge her for a necklace. And another one was sucked into the world of pretty rocks! She's also requested a beaded necklace out of a rosetta lace tear drop. I'll post that one when it's finished as well. Kim: I did! In fact, we ended the evening planning a few more necklaces for her out of slabs yet to be cabbed. I'll be cabbing them up pretty soon so she can pick which of the resulting stones she wanted. It really makes me think about the jewelry end as a permanent business. I have a few regulars now that routinely dig through my cab piles...

Isn't it weird how they think it's funny to play with rocks until they see what can be done with them.
Love the cab AND the wrap

Beautiful wrap. The little swirls on the bottom and really nice. Great design to go with rose quartz too. Ha ha, that's funny about your friend. Good ending, especially if she turns into a rock-er like all of us! I hope you do persue rock as a business. I started to, then stopped when I didn't know how to go about selling. Now I'm thinking of it in a different way because people are approaching me instead of the other way around. That's probably the best way to start. And you are already there with people going through your cabs. Steve

Your cabbing and wrapping those rocks so fast you have created a gravitational force all your own and you are sucking the surrounding area into your orbit of rocks. LOL john
