Here is the cab I posted last night on the Cabochons sub-forum. I cant seem to get a photo of this one that shows how great the polish is. The very bottom of the cab is the only spot that shows the shine.....I think I need to practice with my lighting more. Im also still a rank beginner at this wrapping stuff but Im learning. This one is wrapped in 22g ds sq gf with 21g hh hr copper binding wires. My mom loves copper and this will be going on a copper/gold filled chain maille chain. I tried Jeremy's "hidden"bail. Hope you dont mind! Mom likes simple so it worked well for this wrap. As you can see in the photo, I just made a small narrow bail as that is all I need to fit a jump ring through for the chain maille chain. And it helped keep with the simple look. I hope she likes it! Im not a big fan of loops and so I just file down any rough spots on the ends of the wire in back. I have a hard time keeping my binding wires parallel....as you can see in the photo, the ones on the side are at a slight angle. How can I keep myself from doing that? Thanks for looking! Shannon

I am for simple tops, too, maybe also because I cannot do some really natural looking loops. I like your wrap, but I wander if there is enough space for a chain to go through that bail.
The cab is also beautiful, what a color and shine!

Adrian,
The chain will not be going through the bail. There will be a small jump ring attached to the bail and the jump ring will be attached to the chain maille chain.

Very nice wrap Shannon. Where did you find half round copper? Binding wires can be tricky. The more you do them the better you will get.

Jeremy, I got the hr copper at www.wire-sculpture.com If I remember correctly, I ordered from them specifically because they had it. Shannon

I really like that and I CAN see the shine! As for keeping the bindings straight - I think it looks good and I know that that's what you meant to do!

I love the elegant style here. It showcases the cab. Very nice.

Simply elegant is what I would call that style of wrap. Tami

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. My mom really liked the stone and the wrap although she did say "I love it BUT the one thing I would have had you do different is.........". My mom likes things to be simple to the point of them just literally floating in the air with nothing around the stone for support. Ideally, to suit her style I would have just drilled a hole into the top and epoxied a bail. Unfortunately, there was a small hairline fracture on the back of the cab and I was afraid it wouldnt hold up to drilling. I told mom that she was a pain but that she shouldnt worry because she will be getting plenty more from me over the years.

Shannon, that is off the scale. I think the wrap is perfect for the stone shape, which I really really like. I gotta save this pic in case I ever take the plunge into wrapping.
