I've got a piece of thunderegg, I have been trying to work for weeks. This thing is driving me nanners!!! It seems to just not grind down. I am trying to grind the face to take away about a millimeter of thickness, and it just seems to mock me! I even made a holder of sorts, to keep it grinding on the lap and it still won't give in. It's like its harder than the diamond lap or It has a really neet, dendrite inside that looks like a brain and brain stem. But there is a shallow foggy layer over the top of it that I am trying to remove. I don't have a flat vibe, so thats out. Has any one else had a stubborn one like this before? Any suggestions? richie i have done alot of thunder egg cabs and i never ran into that prob its prob a nice agate center and i just use the genie on it and it grinds right down maybe your lap is gettin worn ---but for the most part i dont have to take down the face-- when i slab a thunder egg i look at each piece as i cut and if something looks good ill adjust the cut to try and get the best slice i can ,, sometimes it works and some it dont hahaha-- alot of times i only get one or two slices i like from an egg but thats cool cause some of them are too dam cool --i dont know if you ever seen the one i put up for cabojohn that herm named fire and ice it has to be the best one i ever got from an egg -- ill look around for a pic of it--- ill post if i find it

Sounds like your lap is either clogged (with softer material) or worn out??? I have a slice or 2 of Thunderegg that I'm gonna work up next time I go back to the 100 belt!
