It was like starting over, but gave it a whirl. The lighting and color quality is poor but wanted to know if the bezel looked right. Misty Mountain Jasper (left) Mookaite (right) thanks for any help, robert

I'm no authority by a long shot, but I know what I like & I like what I'm seeing! That Misty Mountain Jasper is awesome - like being up in the clouds.

There you go Robert, that's exactly what I was talking about. Now, when you do an oval and want to mount it in a cinch mount, there is something for the cinch mount to hold onto. Excellent job

Thanks all, yea the misty mt jasper is pretty cool, picked up a little over a lb the other day off ebay and by the 5th wheel it is already very shiney. Wish I had more so I could touble some but I'm saving it all for cabs.

Oh, stefan, when I got my pixie it came with a 'cab rest' which allows you to put the perfect bezel on the stone. After rough grind, I just follow the bezel on the other wheels to make sure it gets snaded/polished as I go. So when you gonna get that genie??

O.K. rocksds, I was reading the "constructive criticsim wanted" post and what other members said about shaping cabochons (great advice which I will use!). Then I see these two cabs, and think "gee, that shape and girdle is what they are talking about to have in a perfect cab, I should say something'. Then, I noticed it's you on both posts! So whatever you did it worked! (Well, I think both sets look beautiful and are expertly shaped) Great looking cabs and nice domes. Steve

Well I am still up in the air on the genie- The wife wants a long arm sewing machine and I said she should go for it- But now she is wavering- I guess we gotta sell the truck first- then decide- I may forgo the Genie- and pick up all diamond belts instead-

Hey stefan, let me know if you want some pics of the cab rest, you may be able to make one for yourself - your pretty handy when it comes to that stuff.

Hey Robert,
Those look great ...
Just one quick bit of advise:
On your points, take your next cabs back to the 600 grit and slowly roll your sharp points to a soft rounded corner. This will alleviate the possibilities of the stone becoming damaged when/if the bezel is rolled over the edge of the stone ... or, if the stone was to be dropped onto one of those points ... it could be easily damaged.
Other than that ... simply gorgeous! You definitely have the process down ... the sky is the limit ;D

Those look excellent Robert. I would like to see pics of the cab rest if it's not too much trouble.
