I was looking in a Kinsley catalog, and there are so many all in one units for grinding , shaping, and polishing. What do you use and how well do you like it? The huge ones that are $1000's, are they that much better than the $500's??

I love my Ameritool, all in one. I've made about 150 cabs so far and it's showing no sign of trouble at this point.
I paid $399.00 at the Gemfaire in November 2005.

it all depends on which way ya wanna go i put my first grinder together for around 200.00 but i shoped around and got stuff off ebay motor, wheels, and a 8inch lortone grinder bare bones nuttin but a shell --- it worked fine with one carborundom wheel and an expandable drum on the other side made alotta cabs with it when i finaly broke down and got a diamond wheel i swore id never go back to carborundom it cut so nice-- now i have a genie and i prob wouldent go back to less then a 6 wheel unit it makes things so much easyer no belt changes no wheel refacing more money YES worth it YES ---- its up to the buyer and the pocketbook hahaha

I went with the pixie for two reasons, first it was as much as the misses would let me spend and 2nd the size allows me to keep it in my office which allows me to grind any time I want. But like sands I don't think I will ever be happy with anything less than 6 wheel decked out with diamonds

I have the right to remain silent until my issues with my all-in-one are resolved...

i'm a Genie fan, but i never tried to use anything before this, so i'm not a reliable source.

I got Sands old Lortone- 2 expandable drum unit- I still use SiC belts (I do use a 3000 diamond belt for final prepolish- and Diamond Paste for final Polish) And I love mine- It is a work horse- and a beast (weighs in at a cool 60Lbs) - I am thinking about a genie or a six wheel diamond unit- but not sure if the wife is willing to let me waste more money I really don't know if there is a "best" unit- It all depends on what you can afford- and what you want to to with it-

Thanks. The buy and sell page...do people usually list stuff like this if they want to sell equipment?

LMAO- Well Sands had posted pix of his new Genie- someone asked if he was gonna sell the old one- I said yes and I happened to be online at the same time and Jumped on it!!!!! (right place- right time) Probably the best place to look would be the Buy Sell Swap- or the General board-
