I got a slab of Gaudalupe poppy jasper from fairburned earlier this week and in return I told him I'd cut a cab and send it to him. There were a few fractures in this slab and I think these two cabs are all I'm gonna be able to get out of it. I love the red and white poppies though. 30x22mm 30x22mm Here's a Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper(with dust) 30x12mm I picked this blue agate up at my local rock shop in the $1/lb bin. Playing with curves again 48x7mm That's it for today.

Goshdarn! Those cabs are nothing short of incredible! Those first two may be from the Guadalupe Jasper deposit, but they look almost identical to the Big Sandy Poppy Jasper from back of San Miguel. Shows you how widespread these deposits actually are. The second one is wonderful! Unless I'm mistaken, I think that last cab is Royal Purple Aztec lace Agate from Durango, Mexico. Dollar a pound for that material is incredibly cheap. Even though it's usually in thin veins it still usually runs like $8 per pound....mel

Those Guadalupe's look alive!! How do you DO that? (I know, practice, practice, practice) I love the curves too. I like to mess with curved surfaces even though I waste a lot of stone. Oh well, great cabs as always.

Thanks guys. Mel, the last cab came from a rather thin chunk of rock, hence the long narrow shape, so you may be right about the type of agate it is. But wow, $8/lb? I'll have to check out that bin for some more. Joe, it's okay to waste stone, as long as you're learning something in the process.

Stoner, four new beautiful cabs. First two are great but I especially liked your "playing with curves". Zotika

Thanks everyone, I really like that slab of poppy jasper. The spots actually look like poppies. I gotta find some of that material.
