Hi all, I went back to making cabs today. First up is a freeform of Gaudalupe poppy jasper. This piece is part of the matching set I did last week. This one is 52x12mm This I thought was an agate, but it is way too soft to be an agate, so now I think it is onyx. It took a great shine. 40x30mm These next two are from a slab I picked up at the rock show a couple of weeks ago. 40x30mm 25x18mm thanks for looking.

Wow those last two are gorgeous, specially the last one and the opal above it, great color on that one. The first one reminds me of a sundae or something, several layers of ice cream and goodies. ;D

nice cabs Ed, you need to photograph that set together. And i agree sandsman, Sweetwater and Spanish point agate can be similar as well. I love dendricitics now matter were they come from. Thanks for sharing Ed.

Nice cabs! Glad you posted the onyx. I found a rock I thought was agate and tried it out at the club a couple of weeks ago. It was banded, looked almost like calcite but you couldn't scratch it with a knife. Took a phenomenal shine though. Kept wondering what it was till I saw yours.

Thanks everyone. I have another piece of the onyx ready to cab,but it doesn't have any transluscent areas. Maybe today. Hey stephan, why don't you just bring your grinder to work!
