Okay, well I slabbed up both pieces of that carnellian and I was kinda disappointed. It wasn't the nice deep orange I thought it was going to be but I think it will still make some nice cabs. This one was the end cut from the smaller of the two rocks. I wasn't sure which direction it looked best, so I posted 2 pics of the same cab. 36x18mm laying on it's side. Let me know which direction looks better. Oh yea, those aren't fractures, just the inclusions inside the stone.

I guess I'm still a newbie 'cause that color looks awesome! As always, a wonderful cab. I like it upright better.

I like it upright too, although flipped could work also. Looks to me like it has some really pretty color in it. No matter, you'll make awesome cabs from it, just like this one.

WEll Ed, i think you got a decent one. Nice cut too. I personally have cut so much carnelian since i started in the 90's, and only that piece i posted in that other thread has ever lived up to being actaully good/true stuff all the way through the rock, naturally. I got much that is nice color on the outside, but white/gray on the inside.

Dissapointed? It looks beautiful, especially with all those lines, whatever they are. I like the transition. Looks like the sun coming up. It looks warm and soothing. I like stefan's description the best. Steve
