Hi all. Got 4 more done today. I received my participation prize in the mail today from Daniel, some of that dendritic opal material, and I just had to cut a cab from one of the pieces. And while I was at it, I figured I may as well do a few more. This is from a slab I got at my local rock shop, I have no idea what it is, but it's really nice material to work with. 27x20mm Mexican Onyx From Tony 35x18mm Birdseye Jasper with a cool little pocket of clear quartz. 38x14mm Dendritic Opal 26x12mm Thanks for looking.

Wow, the dendritic opal turned out better than I expected. Glad you went freeform and not oval. The shape fits the stone.

Sweet! The curves, the colors, and the patterns are all superb. I detect a new emerging "standard". The "Stoner Standard"! Long may it reign.

Nice job Ed, hard to pick the best one here but I agree with the Stoner Standard, you are really setting some great examples. I think the Mexican Onyx and Dendritic Opal are my favorites in this group.

Very Cool Ed, That bird eye does show a nice quartz inclusion. Yes it happens in reverse. That spot is a well formed Double Termination quartz inclusion. AS most quartz crytals that form ternimations on both end, form suspended in a mud like solution. And in the case of this Bridseye, the solution harden and was sought after instead of the quartz is was holding. Probley becasue the quartz would be a lesser value and hard to extract. Very cool piece. Worth noting wether you keep it or sell it.

Thanks everyone. I really like that Birdseye material and I think I may have to get some more of the dendritic opal. It's pretty soft stuff but takes a great shine. i have a feeling though that I may be playing with some pet wood for a while.

I like the mexican onyx - but all are very pretty! Are you going to wire wrap these?

Sorry, if these get wrapped, it definetly won't be by me. I've tried many times, and I know what I can and can't do, and wire wrapping is a definite can't do.

All nice, but the bird's eye is definitely my favourite. What is that stuff anyway? -- looks part-fossil, part-orbicular rhyolite, many parts I can't even make out. Very nice.
