Howdy folks, Here's a new batch of eye candy: thanks for lookin....mel First some unusual metallics: Red Plumes on psilomelane. Cut this Mexican material in two different directions, one with the plume and one across the plume. Yielded two neat effects with bright red plumes against metallic silver psilomelane. Siskiyou Stone ( I think that's how its spelled *S*), a metallic ore from Washington state. Think it has pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena etc in quartz. A couple of moss Agate cabs from the north Cady Mountains on California's Mojave Desert. Lots of different colors at that location. We call the one on the left "Patriotic Moss" as it's often red, white and blue. And finally, from my last trip to New Mexico, Dendritic Limestone from Lake Valley, NM. This material often has horn coral fossils too but I haven't cabbed that slab yet. Lake Valley is primarily known for fine fossils but lots of cabbing goodies too.

That dendritic limestone is beautiful! Love the color on that one.
The psilomelane stuff if pretty wild, though.

I really like the last one. Is the limestone softer? It is like Owyhee dendrites and Indian Paint Stone colors. Unlike any ugly limestone from Central PA.

deb193: Yep, the limestone is only about 3-4 hardness but works up to a fine polish with tin oxide on leather. I could just kick myself. Found a pile of this in multicolors outside a gate where it looked like maybe an ore truck spilled it. Didn't think it would work up well so I only took a few hunks and have been cussing myself ever since *L*...mel
