Great cabs especially the Flower Agate, That material is usually so darn fractured. lOve the Morrisonite too and it doesn't take much imagination to see why ya call it the turtle *S*. Great work .....mel

Shain - That is one of the best photos of Prudent Man plume I have seen. What is you camera and light setup?

Thanks guys, Kim: its quaitly cuprite, that how its done. PM your addy and i will shoot a piece. Its also more oxide than sulfide. Less metal makes for the better shine on the end result. Also, when theres less metal cuprite, the cross contanimation doest happen, becasue the metal is carrying bad grits through each stage. So it really important to keep them very clean between stages, or seal them with glue.
Daniel: Im supries, that and the morrisontie shot are my least fav in the group here(as far as photo quaitly). I used a matte black background. With two desk lamps, flanking the stone, no fillter or shade, driect lighting. Olmypus c-2040 camera. The white are in the material is nice lace, and got all hot spotted out of the photo. Im kinda mixxed with the black background. may have to keep it gray. or start doing it both way depending on the material

But, the plume has given me so much frustration. Either the colors are wrong, or there is no impression of depth fromthe clear parts (of the plume), or the detail is not sharp. All of my pieces look much better than their photos, and truth to tell I have some pieces of other rock where the photos look better.

I am momre than happy to photograph cabs for you too Daniel if you ever need. But you got to cover shipping costs. But dont hesitate to PM about questions or if you need any photos crituqed. I used to be a fulltime photogarpher, but not for products, so im still playing myself. Just remember, the camera, the lens, the background and the lightsorce all effect color in the cab. I personally like the Olmypus models for point and shoot cameras becasue there lens can reproduce color correctly. When i set up shots, i always let the camera warm up to the lighting and background, becasues its little brain thinks harder than it should and that effects color.

My chief complaint with my Olympus D-530 is theat the macro is poor, and I cannot preview the focus point. I want a Canon Powershot A520. Maybe in September.

I love the opal...the fire is awesome!! (My fav stone too since it's my birthstone!) Has anyone ever heard of the luck of opals? Some say that only those with it as their birthstone should wear it? I may have to do some research!

I have heard that with Opals, as well with brith stones in general. I think when it comes to stuff like that, the user or wearer of the picular stone in question. Thanks, out of all the spencer ive cut so far, it has the most intense fire.
