Hey all. I got my latest auctions from Bearcreek in the mail today and just had to cab some of it up. Arizona Pet Wood 32x30mm Sagnetic Agate 32x30mm Colorado Pet Wood 30x30mm Botswanna 38x10mm Woodward Ranch Plume 33x22mm Woodward Ranch Plume 32x18mm Graveyard Plume. John says that this material with the green plumes in it was dug way back when it was first discovered, and you don't find it around anymore. 40x23mm backlit Thanks for looking.

Now those are all nice but the last three plumes are friggin unbelievable. The white base plume from the Woodward Ranch is really rare and I've never even heard of Green Graveyard Point! Got to add it to my notebook. Wow!!!....mel

I've got them all sitting on a black velvet covered piece of plywood here in the dining area of the kitchen where the computer is. I'm going to have to get a bigger piece of plywood though cuz I'm out of room! I have so much fun cutting them, I just can't stop, especially if I keep checking out Bearcreek's auctions. He has some amazing material. Wait til you see the Deschutes and the dino bone. They look awesome as they are. Thanks for the kind words.

Hey Ed, Seeing all your nice teardrop shapes made me wonder. Have you found a teardrop shaped template somewhere? If not, are you just eyeballing those or how are you making them so symetrical and even in so many different sizes?. Not much of an artist or draftsman myself and drawing freeform shapes gives me fits....mel

I had to log on just to tell you - THAT COLORADO WOOD IS TO DIE FOR...I wonder where in Colorado it came from...hmmmm. Cool Graveyard piece, too.
I think I have a couple of preforms of that in my Bearcreek stuff. I'm gonna have to go look. ;D S

That Wood and Sagenite are way cool. Nice cut and oreinatation on the Sagenite! Ya, the Clorite plumes are rare, but i forget the name. As it was a side vien off the Graveyard beds, just like Carey and Eagle Rock. Both from same occurance, but one was on one side of a butte, and the other was on the other side. Nice cabs Ed.

Thanks everyone, but I can't take credit for cuts or shapes on these, as they were trimmed and marked by Bearcreek. Mel, these pieces were all pre-forms from John and the shapes were already drawn out on the pieces, but usually when I do teardrop shapes, I do them freehand. In fact, I don't even draw the shapes on the stone, just start grinding away til it looks right. Susan, the Colorado wood comes from the South Platte River according to John's auction discription. Did anyone notice the serpent's head in the center of the Colorado wood?

I gotta say the Woodward Ranch ones are my faves, especially the second one, which looks like sprays of coloured maple leaves oriented across a white background.

The CO Pet wood is just awesome. But, I can't see the snake head . I have looked at it several times figuring I should see something in that cab! Let me go have a couple of beers and I am sure I will see something LOL

Green Graveyard is gorgeous but Colorado pet wood wins this batch. Hard to believe . . . the Bot looks ho-hum in this crowd.

Greetings All,
Just piling on with the kudos stoner, very nice. The snake head is the little bit of red in the black background of the Colorado Pet. Wood, looks like it has a bit of neck as well. The backlit of the Graveyard Plume is really cool. Great work!

You must have an amazingly steady hand to get your cabs so darn even. They are gorgeous. That graveyard plume is wonderful... I started using my scrapbooking templates and a sharpie for shapes..works. Um, well the shape looks good BEFORE I start grinding. Do you have a wrist rest or anything to keep your hand steady?

Shelby, it just takes practice to cut a decent cab. I look at my first cabs and have a good laugh. As for my grinder, I have an old Barranca 8" cabbing unit and it has a high front rail about 2" wide that I rest my wrist on. I've noticed that the Genie's don't have anything to rest your wrist on, so I'm glad I have this older machine. I've got it set up with all diamond wheels and belts, so it's just as good as a Genie. Welcome home Cher.
