Hi all, guess who? Well it was close to 100 degrees here today and I thought the water splashing on me would feel good-and it did. Good excuse to cut some cabs, huh? Anyway, I'm really liking this new stuff I got from John. Some stuff I've never worked before. First 2 are Rutilated Quartz. Difficult stuff to photograph. 16x10mm 30x9mm Same one against a black backround and leaning back to show the rutile. Fossilized Limestone 30x20mm Parcelas Agate 33x18mm Next 2 are Dinosaur Bone 30x26mm 30x24mm And last but not least, Deschuttes Picture Jasper 30x22mm Well, unless I get some time tomorrow, these will be the last until next weekend because I'm going down to the San Diego area Monday-Thursday. Hopefully I'll find some nice rocks to bring home and cab.

Very nice. I like the Dino bone and the Deschuttes jasper. I sort of figured you might be cabbin today. The temperature up here in the mountains was well over 100 today. I spent the day (after washing the car, taking a nap and going swimming) was using the work force saw to cut some tumbling food and got a few slabs to cab to boot! I think we are in for some more warm weather tomorrow!

Hey Cal, it was well over 100 here too. I didn't think it was that hot, but I just saw a report where some areas near me were up to 107. Hell, it's after 9pm and it's still 93 in San Jose, but the thermometer outside my door says 98. So I guess I'll fire up the grinder again tomorrow just to stay cool.

Wow another nice batch of cabs! The Deschuttes is fantastic. Sounds like you're heading to the Pala Mines trip this weekend. A couple of folks from my club will be there too Good luck and if that's where you're going maybe you'll bag some nice lepidolite and tourmaline...mel

THe Bone and the Rutile Quartz are my favs. Nice Sleak shape on that Second rutile, the stuff works well in those types of shapes that atscent the inclucions. It also fun to back and make doublets out of. As long as its nice and clear, which we can all see your is. Lapis works well, nice job Ed.

That second rutilated quartz is amazing - the shape is perfect. I'm also partial to the fossilized limestone since it's so unique...great job!

Wow Ed, this Rutilates Quartz dudes are something else. Gotta love Bearcreek as I recently discovered! How did you do those in this heat? I went in the garage and was sawing rocks for about half an hour before I couldn't take it. Great cabs all around! Steve

Thanks everyone. The rutilaed quartz pieces are really some really nice clear quartz and were fun to watch go from hazy looking to crystal clear. I've got another 3 or 4 pieces left and can't wait til I get back to cab those up as well. The parcela's agate was a new one to me too, but like any other agate, it took an incredible shine. Steve, sitting in front of the grinder with the water splashing on me was my only saving grace from this heat. I only have a window air conditioner in my house, and it's doing all it can just to maintain 85 degrees in the living room, so I grind for a while and then come in and sit for a while, then go back out and grind some more. Hopefully by the time I get back from San Diego we'll be back to normal weather. See you guys in 4 days.
