Larimar, is the gemstone name of Pectolite from the Dominican Republic. Though pectolite is mined the world over(similar mineral to perlite). The gem form is only found in the Dominican Republic. And can be expenisve material. I only have a small amount left, but figure you all would enjoy some older cabs i did. As these are part of my new sold cabochon gallery on my site. enjoy~

Cutting this material can be tricky, as it is a fiberous rough. These fibers also give Larimar a chatoyance like Tiger eye. NOt as dramatic, but the blue and white color rolls very nice. Surpisingly, for its hardness about 5mohs, can be hard to cut on the grinder becasue of the crytal habit of fibers. Very reqarding stuff to cut as it polishes like glass(casue it similar)
