Hi all. Been sitting at the grinder again and cut 9 more cabs, including a piece of red tigereye. I think Sandsman sent me the slab of heat treated tigereye and it was really weird grinding the rough dome because as I was grinding it, the piece was becoming more golden in color as I ground away the outside layer that got the most heat. Okay, so here it is. 40x30mm upside down so you can see how much the stone changes in the light. And the backside of the cab. Notice how much more red it is from the first pic? Tiffany Stone 30x22mm Picture Jasper 30mm Two pieces of plume agate 35x25mm backlit 20x20mm backlit And my first ever Malachite cab. 26x18mm Queensland Agate with a nice druzy pocket 35x15mm And these last two are from some jasper/agate that Susan(NMRocks) found in New Mexico. 32x22mm 35x20mm Thanks for looking.

Wow, that tigereye is interesting. I guess you could call it not quite all the way cooked. I think it turned out amazing like that. Your plume agates look just like tidepools or something you see from an airplane window. That's your first Malachite? I though you have cabbed everything there is to cab with all the rocks you post. I hear that Malachite can be toxic when cutting it. Maybe that's why I haven't. I hope you wear a mask. Great results. My respense to the queensland: Oooooooooooooh. It's so soothing looking. Than those New Mexico guys woke me up. Very cool. Superb cabs as always. Steve

Ooooooooooo Ahhhhhhhhhh Oooooooooo WoW!! They are all just gorgeous Ed, the queensland is stunning, such an amazing color. I can't beleive the difference in the tiger eye, just turning it upside down, that's really cool. Dang nice job on the malachite, how did you like doing that, I remember KD said it makes for green fingers and a nasty mess. Awesome job on all of them!!

Thanks everyone. The malachite was very messy-and very soft, like the Seraphanite material, or like KD said, like grinding mud. I talked to Susan and she said this rock was a rare find for her. Too bad, because it really is a cool looking rock.

ed that tiger eye is cool cooked but im thinkin it has to be cooked longer for the color to get all the way through even though it looks cool with just a hint of red in it ---but some one said on the board here that you should heat after you do the cabs or tumble i dont know if it would mess with the polish but i bet you would get alot better color and if ya had to repolish it wouldent take much color away ---so maybe a reheat is after its done would look good its up to you to try i dont have a reguler oven mines on propane and i dont think its accurate i tried to use the stuff for cracks and i dont know if it was the temp or what but i still cant get it to harden up im gonna try some dif hardener for fiberglass im thinkin maybe the stuff that came with it was no good but anyway after all that ------- DAM man there lookin good im waitin for the temp to drop alittle here and im gonna go do some cabs cause im finaly up in the daylight hahaha

You've done it again, and again Ed! Love those plumes especially the second, back lit one.
Thanks to your advice I hope to showing some of mine soon.

Thanks. Hey John, I don't think I'm going to mess with the tigereye, it actually looks pretty cool just the way it is. Give that method a try Rich, I'd really like to see some more of your work.

Yep~ Those are all pretty special...amazing how the different lighting changes the appearence of the Tiger Eye cab. I really like that Malachite cab cause I'm partial to the Green but they all look great...beautiful material!
