;Di got this material from Gaetzchamp and it's the first dino poo i've worked with (and NO, Stefan, i did NOT lick it!): cab is 25mm x 18mm here are a few more that i finished up at the same time, this is a 30mm x 22mm piece of Picture Jasper that Stoner sent me, it looks totally different than when i started and took a fabulous shine: also from Stoner, another piece of red/green agate with white plume stuff, cab is 16mm x 12mm: next is a 14mm x 10mm piece of (?) agate that Connrock sent me, it looks a little like brazilian agate with the striations: and finally a little piece of flame (?) agate that i forget where it came from (this is also 16mm x 12mm): thanks for looking! well by the looks of the cab, I'd say that dinosaur was eating some oranges and got a few of the leaves too, then washed it down with some milk! Sorry. They all look great KD. I'd still like to know how you can tell if it's really dino doo. It looks like a moss agate, like the 3rd cab. That one is a moss agate for sure. I think I like the picture jasper the best. It's got a nice scene and that stuff does take a great shine. Excellent job on all of them. Thanks for sharing your talent.

Awesome stones. Really like the dino poop! My wife has become interested in coprolite so I've picked her up a few lately at some of the shows. Really like the colors and variety of patterns. Interesting stuff!...mel

KD: I think scientists have actually observed bits of plant material in some coprolites but the question kind of befuddles me too. The exterior shapes of some certainly resemble cowpies !However, I've got lots of Utah's San Rafael Reef stuff variously labeled, Coprolite, San Rafael Agate, Fossil Clams, Fossil Oyster, Grape Agate, Greasewood Draw Agate, Agatized Barite etc, that all look like what's being sold as coprolite both inside and out. I can figure out the barite psuedos but all the others seem to overlap in colors, look and everything so it just gives me one giant headache! Of course, I have this horrible case of "mustlabelitus" that I just can't seem to shake. *L*....mel

Go poo! I love the dino poo, along with all the others. Here's my question: What does dino poo smell like when you cut it? Or do I really want to know. Steve

KD-
Hey, great to see the polished poo. Your question about how do you really know if it's poo or not? Well, I picked this up at a rock shop in southern Utah that is know for it's poo. He assured me that it was poo and I actually picked it up from a huge pile of coprolites. Once you see it and study the rock, it's quite easy to distinguish (kind of like dino bone....once you see it, it's not hard to ID it in the field). Having said that, I just found some poo in the field the other day and once I got home, I almost threw it away. But after I cut into it, I was convinced that it was coprolite.
Anyway, I love your coprolite cab!!!!
