Hey Guys, This cab is cut from Garygreen jasper. Material sold as Larsonite or Nevada Swap jasper is also the same thing. The stuff has a nice color, i prefer it more blue. But the grain is similar to wood and you can get some pitting. This cab measures 50x45mm. There is pitting in this material too. Enjoy~

I got a piece that has 3/4 inch of green on top of two inches of red, tan, and white. And there are pits too.
Do you recommend filling the pitts with Opticon or such?

I love gary green! its a blast to cut and cabs very well with a great shine. A lot of mine 'looks' like it could be a picture jasper and i did a wrap for my wife with the stuff - of all the ones i've done, that her fav.
great cab btw!

Personally i dont fill any stone thats hard, if it pit laiden big time. I just wont cut it. Material like this is boarderline. As the slab the customer sent was large enough to get a few cuts out of. But she didnt see the pits and the seller didnt note them. So half was waste in my opinion as a cutter. And the large pit in this cab opened up as i shaped it.
I do know a guy who would fill everything he cuts. BUt i dout he would even cut this material. For the jewelry ideal, to me stablizing should be left to opals and fine copper quantoms. Even truquosie i have a problem wanting to seal, just becasue theres allot out there i can buy if i wanted to cut that. As thats also needed in order to cut it peroid.

That's really pretty Shain. The chunk I've got that I've been tumbling has a lot of pitting in it too ... and flaky spots. I'm really disappointed cause it's such a pretty color.

Nice color in that cab Shain. I've started using the pit filling Hotstuff formula on a few of my cabs that are worth the trouble and I like it. Doesn't even show and seems to really do the trick. Not good on shallow pits though as it seem the wheels pull it right out of the holes....mel

Nice cab Shain. Like Robert said, it does take a great shine and has some nice patterns.

Thanks Guys, The blue green color is what atracts me to the material. But i havent cut it much for the pitting reason. Mel; The Hot stuff gap filler is the best out of that line of glues. I was trying the red, or SuperT. Which is like instant dry glue. working on my doublets and it is nice, but it doesnt hold up well to Acetone. So far, devcon has proven to me to be the best for durablity and life of the glue. BUt it doesnt fill gaps well.
