Hello all. I just found this site and have registered. It must be a fairly new site as the posts don't go back too far. I'm looking forward to learning from you all. Right now I need some suggestions on the best place to buy tumbler grits on the Internet. I usually buy it at a store when I visit my son in the Chicago area, but I need some NOW and won't be going there for a while. We don't have any place in this area that sells it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Lois - welcome to the board.
I am lucky to have a Rocks and Minerals Store near where I live so I never take the online route.
I am going to hunt down some sites which sell gear now though, as I get emails asking the same question. When youve got the bug - I know - you need the stuff RIGHT NOW!!
I'll pop another page up on the site once Ive found some good looking sellers - I generally have a good eye for merchants on the net, so you can trust whoever I put up there.
Thanks. Andrew

Thanks, Robert. I've ordered the grits I need from the place you recommended.
And thanks, Andrew for the welcome to the board!

I am very new to stone tumbling/polishing. I only started about 6 weeks ago. I have been very pleased with my online purchases from Manchester Minerals, both for grit and rough rock. I hope to actually visit them if I ever get the chance. Currently part way through some Tiger Eye and also Aventurine.

Thanks GeoSteve and Phoopt. I live in Michigan USA and I'm guessing the shipping costs from the UK would be quite high. I ordered from the Gem Shop, as suggested by Robert, and the order was here in three days.
I have a Christmas village that I keep up all year. To make walls, I tumble stones that we have around some of our flower beds as mulch. They come out fine and when hot glued together make a great village wall.
How do you all use your polished stones? I used to make jewelry when I was into this years ago.
