Got some more cabs done, some new materials and some good old standby's. This is from a beach rock I collected in Northern Calif. Pretty cool for a beach rock. 30x20mm Next 2 are Rainforest Jasper. The oval is the same color as the other one, I'm not sure why it looks washed out. 30x22mm 30x18mm Cool piece of Ocean Wave 30x22mm Next 2 are two types of Mara Mamba 40x30mm 42x15mm And 2 Guadalupe's and 1 Morgan Hill poppy jaspers 30x10mm 40x18mm 20x30mm Thanks for looking.

My favorites are the 2 rainforest jaspers and the second MM but they are all beautiful. I still haven't cut the plume in my thread, can't figure out where I want to cut from. Doh!! Very nice cabs Ed.

Hey Ed, Recent discussions of cab thickness have got me thinking that in addition to the height and width dimensions, we might also include a dome height or overall thickness measurement to give a little better mental image of the 3-D dimensions. Beautiful stuff here again by the way!

Nice Ed- Very Very Nice- Hmmm Looks like I need to post a few pictures of the cabs I finished (only a couple of them polished up nice- I still gotta figure out how to jump from 600 to 1200).

Thanks everyone. I'll try and do the dome height and the girdle height Pete, but I may need to pick up a set of metric calipers. That ocean wave stuff is really nice to work with and takes an awesome shine. Stephan, what do mean jumping from 600 to 1200? I've been jumping from 280 to 1200 lately and still getting an awesome shine on my cabs. I'm afraid this work business is going to slow down my cabbing output a little bit. Having a real job is way over rated!

Wow Ed, another outstanding batch. I think I like the first one most, aside from the Guadalupe jaspers that resutled in me drooling all over the place as usual. Those are beautiful. #2 has a nice ballance of red and yellow and #1 has that cool dark-centered poppy right in the middle! Wow!
280 to 1200? Was that on all of that batch? They came out great so it musta worked. Here's something interesting. After killing off my 600grit belt, I switched to a used (not a lot used) 600 grit nova wheel, and it puts more of a "pre-shine" on rocks than the 1200 grit belt I am used to using! How weird is that.
Here's my thought about making cabs and working. As long as the neighbors don't mind you running equipment late at night, then go for it. I try to do all the noisy (sawing and rough grinding) parts early and save them aside so I can finish them later when it's late. Then you can continue to churn out those great batches. Seriously, we appreciate the constant supply of great looking cab photos. Steve
