Howdy folks, Well, I know it's hard to believe but I actually got to my Genie last night and finished a few cabs. I had 10 on the dops from long ago and four flew off and will have to be redopped and finished but these are the six I completed. Three were cabosaves from broken cabs that I reground. I showed a pic of these before on the dops before they were finished. And the others, are from a couple of old collecting trips. Sorry for the pic quality. I didn't want to set up for macro and the light today is strange. Thanks for looking....mel Maury Mountains Moss Agate: Hornitos Poppy Jasper: Marfa, Texas Bouquet Plume Agate: Horse Canyon Plume Agate: Tehachapi, CA And finally, two examples of Woodward Ranch Plume Agate from Alpine, Texas. These are much nicer than the pic.

Well it's about time! They all look great but I have to go with the Marfa and the Horse canyon plumes. I'm sure the Texas plumes look great in person. So, when are the next cabs gonna be done?

Ed: Boy you and I have very similar tastes. Those are my two favorites too, plus the poppy jasper of course *L*. I went by Bill's Rockyard awhile ago and he had purchased a huge estate lot of Horse Canyon ( much nicer that what I found on my last rip there, though this is a piece I found myself). Anyway, he sold me a bunch for cheap and, though most is smaller hunks, it sure is pretty stuff. I have some small cabs to finish and then I think I might cut me a whole suite of Horse Canyon pieces for my collection. It's tough to work but sure is interesting!. The Marfa Plume biscuits are neat too but tough to saw due to odd shapes and really lots of duds and serious soft spots. Really hard to get a decent slab for cabbing..mel

About time you took a break from all that rock collecting! Ok, just kidding!. The cabs all look good and you work with some unique material.

That Horse Canyon takes the cake in my book. I love the contrast in that piece.

KD: *L* My Genies a long time from being new. I got it when they were like $900 new and I'm on my second motor and second set of wheels. I just don't cab much and it's beeen buried unused on my bench upstairs for about a year. I've told myself I'm gonna make myself cut some new cabs now even if I don't like it as much as collecting and slabbing *S*....mel

I love plumes. The 1rst Woodward plume is like looking down on a forest. Gorgeous!
