Here they are. I asked what was the price for the big round one at the bottom. Only $250. I gotta get some of that material. It is outstanding color and takes a really beautiful shine.

Well considering that $30/lb is a good price for rough, I can see why a cab that size would sell for that. It's beautiful material and takes a great shine.

A heart is what I have been thinking for Rhodonite, I have been watching some on ebay and a few slabs that I should have bought have gone by, one of these days!!!

The picture turned out pretty good, but they looked even better, a lot better, in person. The color patterns looked like inclusions in this incredibly brilliant pink gel.

For those who might be interested, I looked this material up on mindat and it turns out to be Manganese Carbonate, hence the pink. At a hardness of 3, I am afraid it will never see my tumblers. It is so soft that you could almost scratch it by looking at it. No wonder the vendor had it under glass. It is beautiful material, but definitely too soft for most tumbler setups.
I also checked ebay for some prices. Small slabs are not too expensive, but crystals are out of sight.

From what I have heard through the grape vine, the main source for that stuff has been depleted, no more to be had. I was told the price will soon skyrocket, like going from $30 per lb to over $100 per lb. Then................I was told a new source was struck and would be on display, the majority being in crystal form. Did you see anything like that at the Tuscon show? I think it was out of nevada?

The only other rhodochrosite I saw at Tucson was some big crystals from somewhere in Europe, and the price was in the hundreds. But I only went to one show site for about four hours. There were 18 others and some even bigger than Inn Suites. So I suspect there was more rhodochrosite around, if a person went looking specifically for that.

Glad to hear that Rallyrocks, thanks for the link. I really like the stuff, it is soft but its easy to work on the wheels, just about as hard as the rainbow fluorite I worked a while back.

Here is a piece of rough that was listed for $10 on ebay. That is a stack of pennies alongside it. It is 7mm thick. It sold for $171.
