Hey, all,
I've got an older friend who was the King of Rocks. He has recently sold off pretty much everything at several auctions, but apparently still has a 24" rock saw (slab saw) and a 'cut-off' saw, 6" blade, which he used to trim the slices from the first saw.
He apparently made the first saw, not sure about the second.
He also still has some rocks locked in the quanset at the home place.
Avey is pretty old, is forgetting a few things. He just moved in to our local assisted care facility.
So, I did the right thing, talked to his daughters, they said that whatever he said goes.
So.... Give me a fair price for a 24" homemade rock saw, with blades. Avey said he would sell the saw for the price of a blade; I'm assuming a 24" diamond blade? Yikes!!?
And the 6" saw; again, fair price?
Avey sold pretty much everything else at 3 auctions, for pennies on the dollar. The auctions were a combo of all the things he had collected over the years, and he had collected LOTS! The rocks etc. were actually a small sideline to his antique farm machinery.
He was very disappointed, he thought his rocks would go for more. He still has rocks, and when the snow clears, he's going to take me to his quonset. He may also have more equipment, we'll see.
Please help me out here! Would love to buy a cheap saw, but don't want to take advantage.
With the above-mentioned saw, he has made beautiful slab lamps, slab clocks etc. I asked him how he polished his slabs after cutting them, and he said "I didn't need to."
So, explain that to me? The cutting polishes at the same time?
Is that feasible?
I think the price of the saw has JUST gone up, ;D
Please help me out! Thanks!
