It rained most of the weekend so I cut cabs instead of doing other things I should have beern doing. As if I need an excuse to cut cabs! Something I picked up at Jade Cove. A little jade, serpentine, and quartz. Unknown, Stephan sent me this slab. Graveyard plume Rosetta from Jamie Forestfire Plume from Liz. Botswanna KD sent me this Bearcreek preform. It was a rectangle but I decided it was too nice to waste the rest of the stone. Mexican Agate I tumbled some of this material awhile ago and I wish I knew what it is cuz I'd like to get more. Any ideas? And the fire agates I got from the Rockshop time forgot in Northern Calif. Thanks for looking.

Holy smokes Ed, I realy like this batch! So many nice ones it's hard to pick a favorite but I'm flat blown away by that last fire agate, the Rosetta and that unknown piece third from the bottom. That one really has me frustrated because I know I've seen it somewhere but can't place it. Guess I'll have to drag out the monster books again *L*.....mel

Ed those are top notch cabs, the jade mix is really interesting. The fire agate is killer too, I will have to try some when I get off this opal kick. Great job!

Kick ass cabs as usual Ed. I am drawn to the botswana agate and the jade cove guy. And that forest-fire plume one is sweet. Nice way to orient it! To me, the unknown one in photo #9 looks like one of those change purses. I like the rainy day excuse too. I enjoy working when it's grey and rainy outside, because after I'm done I get to come back in and warm up- and bring cabs in with me Oh, an Neph, you can stay on that opal kick for as long as you want! We love the results. Steve

Wow, The forest fire agate is incredible. You did a great job with the rosetta, they all look so nice. What are you taking pictures on? (The background)?

Thanks everyone. Jamie, I put the old brass/wood calipers away and made a new backround for setting my cabs on. I used some maple and made a ramp that sits at about 30 degrees and then glued a couple of 1/4"x3/8" strips to form a V so a cab of any size will fit. You can see it in the 2 pics with the light backround. On the other pics I just draped the black velvet over the new setup. It seems to work really well and I can get decent photos without the glare of the light, or at least very little. I'm still experimenting with camera positioning.

Ed, you are a true artist. Your eye for form and composition really brings out the best in the stone. Such a treat when you post! Bill

WOW! What a gorgeous mix of material. I don't think I can pick just one favorite...in fact I'm not even going to attempt. But I love that last Fire Agate...and Forest Fire Plume, and Unknown, and Bot and...well you get the idea. Thanks for posting the Cabs. Steve
