This is from a Botswana agate I cut open last summer. 1. Shaped freehand on the WorkForce 2. Tumbled in 60/90 for eight days 3. Shined it up on a piece of cloth with AO polish - less than a minute. The back was rounded over from the tumbler and chipped, so I hand-lapped it flat and buffed it up again - it's thinner than it looks in pic 2. But I'm still callin' it a 3 step cab. Not a Bear Creek finish, but pretty good for fartin' around. Rich

Hey Rich - that looks REALLY great!!! I might just give it a try. When you say buffed on cloth -do you mean using a machine or just rubbing really hard by hand (!)

Isn't that somethin'! Turned out great. Only 8 days?!? I've had stuff come out of 60/90 lookin shiney but not like that and only after about 2 weeks w/no recharge...

Okay Rich, now why would you do a cab by hand when you have a grinder? I know, because you could. It came out nice, but do you know how many cabs you could do in 8 days on your grinder?

Erbo - Just by hand on a piece of cloth, like an old handy-wipe. Blarney - There was no shine comin' out of 60/90, just a smooth surface ready for the next stage. Just try it on a piece of rock before you throw it into 120/220. It'll buff up in seconds, the part you're rubbing, anyway. Ed - I was sittin' right next to the grinder when I did it! I did cab a couple Sunday, the regular way. Gotta take the pics. Rich

Good inspiration for the "grinderless" people!!! It can be done! Nice stone too- I have some Botswanna that has those same red dots on the white areas- makes for a very interesting look-
