Just when I think they'll come out nice, I get closeup pictures and it just ruins it for me - I think I had better luck when I was dopping the stones. - seems the scratches showed up when I'm polishing up the piece... *sigh* back to4 00 on some of these... mostly the domed ones need help I've doubled up the cabs so there'd be less pictures (and they,re not super close-up hehe ;D so they look better One is OJ and I'm not sure what the other is but they're nice These are Daniels piece of imperial jasper and Warren's (I think he said it was snowflake jade but it kinda looks seraphite) Warren's montana agate (looks like a clear dalmation stone) it's pretty and some dentritic stuff scratchy Mook from Jamie! after I cut off what I thought was talc but seemed much harder... This is another from WarrenA - weird stuff, a slab broke and it looked like some sort of sandy stuff inside, but when you cut it it looks like this - looks like someone stained it... more scratchy stuff - DanieLs imperial jasper - looked okay till it hit the polish pad Some brazilian agate - little scratched up too - (what's up with me - I'm not trying to rush them but the scratches seem to appear in polish This one is kinda funny - very soft - would take an amazing shine on a diamond polishing wheel - I love the look of hematite, and this is very cool with the reflective "eye" - which i just realized you can't see from this angle - time for bed for me... I suck at this today! Wah! Thanks for not throwing rotten tomatoes at me...

Well Tweetie, a few scratches to clean up isn't all that bad. The cabs look great. Nicely shaped, great job cutting the pieces and the domes look good too. In the first pic, the one on the left is Gaudalupe poppy jasper and I'm not sure about the one on the right. I don't think the scratches are happening during polish, I think they are there from previous stages, it's just that when the stone is wet, they don't show. Before moving on, dry the cabs and check them under a bright light and use a magnifying glass. Hang in there, you're cabs are improving every time you post new ones.

BEEP BEEP BEEP- Backup the cabbing bus!!! Tweet- relax- this is supposed to be fun- remember? AS Winston Sedimore said on Ghostbusters- "We have the tools, we have the talent" All you need to do is to make sure you're getting everything from the previous step- No cheating- If the scratches are still there you gotta keep grinding!!! I dry may cabs after every step, dry them and look at them under bright light with a lope (I think I'm using 10x) I look for deep, inconsistent (in relation to the other scratches) scratches- Everything should be uniform before moving on- if not (or if your in doubt) hit the same grit again. You can do it- I've seen some great cabs from you so I know you can! Oh and those are some great stones your working on- nice job!

They look awesome Tweet. That is Guadalupe jasper as Ed says. I let out an "Oooooooh" when you post popped up on the screen. That's a kick ass cab and the king of orbicular jaspers (in my opinion). Uh oh, I think the OJ heard me say that. I like the hematite and jasper one too. That stuff is difficult to photograph, so please don't beat yourself up. Those are kick ass cabs, no doubt about it. I think that your cabs are really nice. I like them. I also think that scratches are just starting to be seen at the polishing phase but they are there from earlier stages. I agree with Stoner. I use I great deal of kitchen towels for drying the cabs. Sometimes one roll of paper for one cabbing session. I find that you it should be paid more attention to earlier stages and every scratch you see need to be removed. Then later phases are done much faster, so it's not waisted time. Don't be too hard on yourself. You make beautiful cabs.

I like 'em Tweet, specially the last one is really cool, and the red striped one. I'd have to guess you have something contaminating your polish or possibly on your buffing wheel. I'm sure it wouldn't take much to make such minuscule little marks. I'm sorry they bummed you out, go bust a rock, it'll make you feel better.
