Well I got the domes nice & shiny, much less scratchy. The flats are much better, but still need some tweaking. The colors are off - for me it's either nice pictures w/ crappy cabs, or crappy pics of nice cabs - today my pictures suck but the cabs are nice. Here we have some turritella - I'm a little dissapointed since there was lots of light brown bits here that were undercutting lots - the rest shone nicely Some mossy unknown stuff I THINK this is black skin agate but not sure - it's much whiter in person some of Banjo's graveyard plume - the colors on this one are pretty close.. this is another piece of graveyard plume - colors are off again - it's less yellow This one I have to ask a question: would you be willing to cut through a slab, to get to that perfect cab? Meaning would you make it less useable? This was my piece: I had to cut through many spots to get to this one... It will be wrapped for my mom - I really like it - looks like a twister in the background Thanks for looking

Nice work Tweetie. I really like the 3rd and the last one a lot. Now to answer your question. A big yes, especially when you see something as nice as you have in your last cab. Well worth wasting the entire slab. From a monetary standpoint, the cab you cut would fetch a much higher price than you could get by cutting 2 or 3 so-so cabs from the slab. Even though you're not going to sell it, your mom will appreciate it more than getting an average looking cab. If I see something in a slab that's extraordinary, I just go for it.

wtg, Tweet! i wholeheartedly agree with the King of Cabs (Stoner), go for the best cab in the slab despite wasting the rest. besides, it's not REALLY wasted if you tumble the leavings and tailings....

tweet they are all great but 3, 5, and 6 get my votes.
i would definitely cut the slab all up to get to the best cabbing part.

Well, Tweetiepy, for the moment I am not a cabber and I consider it's pitty to cab a nice slab. But, if I would do it, it would be only to obtain an exceptional cab rather than a few common onces. The last one is really beautiful.

nice to see you SHINE!!!!!! As an answer to ypur question- Yes- But trust me I know right where your coming from!!!! It seems such a waste (especially for the price we pay for some materials) But I have been so hesitant to cut some slabs- just because I know that I'm only gonna get one cab from it- and the rest will go into the tumbler!!!! If you have ever seen Bearcreeks slabs to cabs pictures- well it speaks for itself- Bear had a way of ONLY taking the best of the best- His WASTE was nicer than a lot of stuff we cab- But the cabs he produced--- stunning- SO Yes if you see that MUST have cab- then DO IT!!!
