One of the nicest and largest Turkish Blue Chalcedony Druzies ive ever cut. It really sparkles like a million blue diamonds in person. Thanks for looking.

Dang Shain, that's a very neat cabochon. Blue agate is pretty enough but all the sparkle just makes it that much more interesting. Nice shape too!.....mel

I don't think it's tumbled Curt, Shain does freefrom cabs on a grinder. Nice one there Shain.. I bet it looks even better in person.

Thanks guys, i have a new plate of the same grade, its about 4inches long, wondering if i should size it down or stay big with it. Sorry texaswoodie, i only tumble fire agate for prepping, and havent done a batch now in over 6months.

seems a shame to cut it up...unless you're going to cab it for me, of course. I bet it'd be a dynamite display piece.

Shain...just how big is that sucker anyway???
I love druzy. Always have. I think any cab that has it is just about perfect! I have a pink one (cobaltite? Crap...can't remember actual name right now) and a white druzy cab that has a titanium powder on it. Makes the druzy look like platinum with a gold sheen. Snowdog remembered I liked it & sent me a beautiful slab of brazillian agate with some real purdy druze.

I hear ya Hema, but i personally find Druzy best in a jewelry setting, then just on a shelf. Plus though the piece is large, there is some damage to some areas of the druzy. These will have to be cut away.
Liz, 52x28mm. which puts in the inch realm of 2+x1+ inch

I've seen some lovely druzy pendants to be sure. Would you make a bezel for it? Wouldn't wrapping destroy the crystals?

making standard bezels for druzy really depends on the material. Since this material is often 3/4inch thick. I always opt to dome the back side so it would fit a casting best. As with pieces like this, wire wouldnt hurt the druzy, but would have to still be ontop, to some degree. A casting would show off the piece best. Wrapping would only destory the crystals if the person wrapping was careless and not taking the proper time, or real know-how to do it right.

great job, I love the turk blue. I've got a chunk of it and have yet to cut it up, I just go and look at it from time to time
