Here are some cabs that I have been working on and I am pretty happy with the results. Having Stoner nearby, who cuts fabulous cabs, and gives some helpful hints has really helped me concentrate on getting good even doming, and better polishing (thanks Ed). The cabs look much better in person than what my crummy camera will show. The focal distance between the cab and camera is at least two feet to allow the auto focus to work! Quantum Quattro Purple Sage Misty Mountain Picture Jasper RedAgate from Jamie Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper Canadian River Plume (Texas) AquaNueva Agate ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had a chance to visit Stoner on Monday. While talking, I was moaning and groaning about my camera, Stoner goes inside the house and grabs his camera, tripod and cab holder and starts taking pictures, can you see the difference between his pics below and mine above, what do you think, should I save up for a new camera? I also found a bruneau, rooster tail and crazy lace cab in my office. Oh yeah, Ed let me pick out a couple of cabs to use as examples for my own cabs!

Damn Cal, you been paying attention to me haven't you! These are all great looking cabs. Crummy camera or not, the shine shows up on my screen just fine. Not only nice shapes and shine, but also the cuts you chose from the slabs. I'd have to give you an A+ on these.

Stoners school of cabbing- hmmmm woder what the tution would be? ? I'd bet it would be the only place in town where you could pay in rocks... And everyone thought Flintstones was unrealistic... ;D

Thanks for the kind words.
Ed, of course I have been listening. Who wouldn't listen to the master, said the grasshopper. Besides, if I didn't show any improvement, I was afraid I would get my knuckles whacked by the ruler the next time I came by.
Do you see any purple in the purple sage? I don't either, but the dendrites were in the white part, which I thought was the best part of the slab, so no purple.
My camera just does not do justice to Jamie's Red Agate and the Canadian River Plume. I think the camera focuses on the white portion (the top of a styrofoam food container), so the details in the rock gets lost. I am going to start saving up for a better camera!

I like every one of them, but he Misty Mountain cab I especially like because in his song 'Human Highway' Neil Young starts off with "I come down, from the Misty Mountain." Don't know if that's what he's singing about, but that's good enough for me.
