It has been a few weeks, what with the belt problems and my trip to Mexico, but I finally finished a few, mostly from self-collected materials. First a few more Plasma Agate cabs from the field trip to Clear Creek I took with Stoner before he went to Texas; same one on a dark background: Then a leftover piece of Lavic Siding Jasper from a trip last November; And the stuff I found in Mexico. this first stuff looked like dark basalt in the field, but it had these little pockets of lighter material, (I need to dig a bit to find the picture of this in situ-) ah here it is; It looks kind of like Llanite but without the blue crystals- anyway, I was quite interested to find inside it is all like this: Then there was this area that had lots of little geode and fire agate fragments, here's a slice that shined up nicely; And this piece of quartz/amethyst was just laying by the side of the road, I think I'll get a few more cabs yet from it; And the final piece was not a field find, but rather the well documented generosity of the man we call stoner, I guess I'd mentioned once in the past how awesome one of his pietersite cabs was, so on our clear creek field trip he handed me a nice big chunk of the stuff. Ed you are too kind!

Well it's about time you got around to cutting some cabs! The plasma agate makes a nice cab. I haven't had time to cut any of that stuff up yet(gee, I wonder why). I gave you a chunk of pietersite? What was I thinking? Just kidding. Nice looking cab. How did you like working with that stuff?

I wondered if you realized what you'd done too, but I wasn't going to make a fuss! The stuff is really nice to work, it seems to start shining up at about the 600 grit and just keeps getting nicer as you go on. Thanks again!

Wow the cabbers here are fantastically talented - I guess we learn from each other, we're all doing a great job (I'll include myself in this bunch but only because I don't want to be left out! )

Love that plasma agate, Rally. Nice work. I really enjoy the shapes. Cool amethyst find, too.
As far as the pietersite goes, I think your reasoning may be a bit off. If Ed gave away even a little bit of rock everytime someone used "awesome" to describe one of his cabs, he would have been out of rock a long time ago.

I know what you're saying Matt, but apparently you have not visited his residence, he could be giving away rocks for a long time yet, and now that he has that inside miner-direct line on all the remaining wild Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper, well who knows what space will be left for his saws and equipment....

Those plasma agates are cool and I love the amethyst. The color in that pietersite is really amazing isn't it.
